2017 Barrel Select
Dundee Hills, Pinot Noir
Four barrels, all of which distinguished themselves throughout their 16-month elevage, were selected to represent our best work from this spectacular vintage. Made with 15% whole cluster and aged in 35% new French oak, 30% second use French oak, and 35% neutral French oak, this small lot is crafted with the intention of laying down a little longer than the rest. The fruit is 100% from Granville’s Holstein Estate Vineyard with 777 and 115 being the leading clones from some of the oldest vines on the property. Like the rest, fining and filtration was not necessary.
Tasting Notes: Deep, seductive nose of dark red cherries, floral rose pedals, cigar box, and something that might take years to put our finger on. Leathery, structured mid-pallet with tension throughout. Well-integrated tannin with a long savory finish that demands further inspection and time to fully reveal its layers. Recommended cellaring is 3-10 years.
