2017 Holstein Vineyard Pinot Noir
The Holstein Vineyard is the estate vineyard to Granville Wine Co. The age of vines range from 15-28 years old. We sit at an elevation varying from 620 ft to 720 ft and have four clones on site planted to three different aspects, allowing us to capture diversity among the different sections of the vineyard. Harvested on three different pick dates between September 26th and October 6th, this batch was fermented with about 20% whole-cluster. This wine was barrel-aged for 16 months on 5% new French oak, 40% second use French oak and the remainder in neutral French oak–unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Captivating aromatics of candied dark red cherries and fresh plum interwoven with touches of cola, smoke, and spice in the background. Broad and warm upon first take with a structured, layered, and lush mid-pallet. Ripe, well-integrated tannins support its long savory finish. While this wine is very approachable now, it has the structure to develop over the next 10 years. Our 2017 Holstein Vineyard Pinot Noir is a classic representation of the Dundee Hills.
