2017 Murto Vineyard Pinot Noir
Murto Vineyard is located less than a mile west of Holstein Vineyard. These 30-year-old vines face predominately southwest at an elevation of 750 ft. Harvested on October 10th, this batch was fermented with about 35% whole-cluster. This wine is a 100% Pommard clone and aged in 50% second use French oak and 50% neutral French oak for 16 months–unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Expansive, seductive aromatics of rose petals, rhubarb, and fresh cut herbs with deeper licorice notes on the hind end. Remnants of red tea and cedar planks mixed with strawberry jam flavors that become more energetic as the wine opens up. Distinguishable elegance, grace, and expansiveness. The spice and floral notes drive the long, lively finish that's given gentle grip by earth-driven, harmonious tannins.
